Tisas BR9 Pros and Cons

Some people might find the Tisas BR99 to be a bit too big for their taste, but I think it’s just right. It’s not too small or too large – it’s just right. And, it’s extremely reliable. In fact, I have yet to experience any sort of malfunction with this gun. Whether you’re looking for a new primary or backup firearm, the Tisas BR99 is definitely worth considering.

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the Tisas BR99 is a bit on the expensive side. But, when you compare it to other guns in its class (such as the Glock 19), it’s actually quite reasonably priced.

Tisas BR9 problems

From owner’s review:

I have had my Tisas BR-99 for about a year now and it has been a great gun. It has never jammed or misfired, and is accurate enough for me. The only problem I have had with it is that the magazine release is in an awkward location and can be hard to reach. Also, the gun is not particularly comfortable to shoot, due to its heavy recoil. Otherwise, it is a great gun and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly option.

That being said, I recently had an issue with my BR-99 that required me to send it back to Tisas for warranty service. The problem was that the slide would sometimes get stuck in the forward position after firing a round. This would obviously render the gun useless until I was able to clear the jam. After doing some research, I discovered that this is a relatively common problem with the BR-99, and that Tisas has been pretty good about honoring their warranty and fixing the issue.

I contacted Tisas and they sent me a shipping label so I could send the gun back to them. The turn-around time was pretty quick, and I had my gun back within a week or so. They did not charge me for the repair, which was great. Overall, I am happy with how Tisas handled the situation, and I would still recommend their products to others.

From owner’s review:

I have been a big fan of Tisas pistols for a while now. I own several and they have all been great guns. Recently, however, I had an issue with my BR99 that has me concerned.

Apparently, there is a problem with the firing pin safety on some of these pistols. The safety is designed to keep the firing pin from striking the primer unless the trigger is pulled, but it seems that in some cases the safety can fail. This can obviously lead to an accidental discharge if the gun is dropped or jarred in just the right way.

Tisas has issued a recall on these pistols and they are offering to fix them free of charge. However, I am not sure that I want to send my gun back to them.
